Reception and cleaning of the new instruments
Reception of a new surgical item has to be held by a qualified personnel. After controlling matching with the order, this material shall be unpacked, and it functionment has to be controlled as well, before any treatment..
An instrument that seems defectious shall be returned in it original packaging, without any hazardous repair attempts, on pain of warranty cancellation. The copper sulphate test recommended by AFNOR as no value regarding the validation of the quality of a Martenstic-type stainless-steel, and might only lead to fake positive results.
The boiling water test recommended by AFNOR has no interest if supplying is only realized by a qualified supplier.
If the instrument is not to be put in service immediately, one shall stock it:
• in a clean, dry storage,
• out of its plastic packaging,
• away from all acid solution, even if in closed container,
•away from any metal of different composition, and most of all away from ferrous metals (old chrome-plated box, contact with chrome-plated instruments,...),
• away from any extra load,
• according to a classification allowing an easy identifying.
